COMMISSIONING CEREMONY OF REHABILITATION CENTRE FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED
1. The centre will promote
independence and daily
living skills as essential life skills such as mobility,
personal care, cooking and household management and adaptive techniques
will be taught persons living with visual impairment.
2. The centre will provide
specialized Education and
vocational training. It will offer braille literacy, assisted technology training and vocational skills
training and vocational skills
(e.g handicrafts, use of
typewriter or smallscale
business skills to enhance self-reliance and employability).
3. The centre will serve as a
free a screening site to Lions and Leos during world sight day and any other program
that concerns vision.
4. The centre will facilitate
Psycho-social support and
inclusion, counseling, peer
support and community
activities to address the
emotional impact of visual
impairment and reduce
stigma.
5. The centre will serve and enhance access to Assisting Devices as white canes,
screen readers, braille requirement to improve Functionality and mobility.
6. The centre will serve as a resource and referral Hub. It will act as a central point for Information referrals to medical or Educational
services and partnership
with government and NGO's.
